Make the most of a beautiful bunch of flowers

It's my birthday today and I received the most beautiful bunch of flowers from my friends Gill, Nick and Andy at Quirky Dovetail.  Quirky Dovetail is my absolute favourite local shop (as I have mentioned in other posts). They have two shops, in Balham and Clapham, and sell the most beautifully painted, vintage pine and antique furniture as well as a wide range of homewares, garden items and gifts.

My house is full of items I've purchased from them over the last two years and during that time Nick, Gill and Andy have become firm friends.  Thank you guys for such a wonderful surprise. The flowers were from my local florist, Jayne Copperwaite, from whom I regularly buy flowers, so the flowers I received were just perfect.

When I receive a tied bunch of beautifully presented flowers, I always aim to maximise the flowers and give them the space to bring out the best in their colour and shapes. I have divided this bunch up into four separate vases as you will see below.

Vase 1 - subtle colours especially the hydrangeas, one of my favourite flowers

Vase 2 - I separated the white freesias and roses into this delicate glass vase

Vase 3 - these three stunning roses merited a vase of their own (it's actually a hyacinth bulb vase)

Vase 4 - a small mixed vase which I've placed on a glass side table
