Never understimate the effect of candlelight

You never need an excuse to light candles.  The light of candles is soft and romantic and creates a wonderful atmosphere in a room. I am a huge fan of candles and have loads of candlesticks, tea light holders or single candles all over the house. I often place a candle beneath a lamp on a small table and I light both the candle and turn on the lamp. The candle light softens the electric light.

I like to have one really nice scented candle in a room but I'm very fussy about the scent as there are so many ghastly, overpowering scented candles around.  I particularly love the Pippa Small candle and I also love large Skeem candles.

This Pippa Small candle and has the most divine fragrance — an exotic blend of Indian jasmine, Moroccan orange blossom, and Somalian frankincense. Even the box of Pippa Small's candle is beautiful.

My favourite candle is this three-wick one, Lilac Dandelion, and look what a gorgeous lid it has.

Here are a few candles that I lit this evening that might help give you ideas of your own.

When the candle is finished I put a tea light in the empty glass container.

The Skeem Lilac Dandelion three-wick candle that I mentioned above.  Wow, what a divine scent it has.

These tea light holders below are actually Moroccan glasses for drinking tea. They create much more of an effect when they are grouped together. I've grouped them on a vintage pewter plate
