For the discerning decorator: Decorative Fair 2014

Yesterday I took a day off work and went to the Decorative Fair in Battersea Park. I've never been before and I went with the hope of finding a rug for my sitting room.

It is a  thrice-yearly specialist event for the discerning decorator looking to source unusual English and European antiques, original 20th century designs and works of art from all periods to the present day. There are around 140 exhibitors offering a broad range of both fine quality and affordable pieces for inspired interiors, in Battersea Park – just over the River Thames from Sloane Square and Knightsbridge. The Fair is fun, fashionable and particularly well-known as an excellent source of painted furniture, Gustavian & Swedish design, 20th century design, lighting, accessories and named-design furniture, and excellent mirrors. Its worldwide reputation, established over 25 years, entices international trade and retail buyers, interior designers, and private customers seeking unique and unusual furnishings and quirky accessories for decorating schemes.

I took my camera and want to share some of the stands with you and I particularly enjoyed.  The Jenny Hicks Beach, is the stand where I purchased an old Turkish rug.

The florist in me really enjoyed the floral and plant displays used to enhance some of the stands. I've shared some of these with you in the photos below. I love the Swedish and French vintage looks and there were a lot of stands featuring antiques from these countries, some at eye-watering prices!!

It was very enjoyable wandering around the stands, chatting to some of the suppliers and generally getting a feel for what is on offer.  I hope you enjoy these photos. Just click to enlarge and work through the album.
