Phoenix on Golborne is one of my favourite shops in London. I first discovered it when I did a one-day Annie Sloan paint course there with the owner, Jess. Jess is inspirational and her shop is stunningly beautiful and a real treasure trove.
The shop sells a wide range of antique and vintage furniture, homewares and decorative accessories as well as stocking Annie Sloan paint. Jess is a incredibly talented and artistic and her shop always looks beautiful. She fills some of the vases, jugs, inkwells, and bottles that she sells in the shop with flowers from the famous local florist Scarlet and Violet. I always end up buying one or two of these containers as I'm so inspired by the way she displays them with flowers.
I popped in today after an osteopath appointment to stock up on a few pots of Annie Sloan paint as I plan to do some serious painting this weekend.
I found Jess up to her elbows in the most gorgeous variety of flowers, most of which looked like garden flowers — my favourite: anemones, sweet peas, etc. She was arranging the flowers in a number of the vases and jugs for sale.
I just had to photograph the flowers as she has a real knack of combining the right amount of flowers, the right colours and the right textures. Hopefully these photos will inspire you to try something similar. Garden flowers are always the best so gather bits and pieces from your garden and add a few flowers from a good local florist.
If you live in London, pop in to Phoenix on Golborne, just off Portobello Road. It's one of the nicest roads in London and has fantastic range of independent shops, market stalls, cafes and food shops. I hope you'll be inspired by these photos (click to enlarge).
