As many of you who follow my blog know, I adore Petersham Nurseries and visit it often. It's particularly lovely on a sunny day so a friend and I went there this morning. Petersham Nurseries is an interior stylist's paradise as the shop is so beautifully styled into "rooms" or zones with a clever mix of plants and vintage & new items. One wants to buy everything as the presentation is so good!
I particularly liked the turquoise painted glazed cabinet (see photos) which really stood out for its strong colour but was complemented by the vivid purple of the orchid plants on the table in front of the cabinet. I have a real passion for turquoise and have a mahogany sideboard in my kitchen that I painted two years ago in Annie Sloan paint - two shades of turquoise.
Spring is definitely in the air and so I bought some hyacinth and narcissi bulbs and polyanthus to put in pots around the house. My friend and I took a tray of coffee into one of the glasshouses and sat in the warmth of the sun. There was a vase of Daphne on the table whose strong scent reminded me so much of my home country, New Zealand, where it grows prolifically. Do any of you have a Daphne plant in your garden and love it as much as I do?
I always leave Petersham Nurseries inspired to rush home and try some of the styling in my own home. See the last photo where I've styled two shelves in my sitting room with a mix of vintage and new items and some succulent plants.

Previous Petersham adventures
Petersham Nurseries is one of those places that is good for the soul. It is all about beauty and style, both outside and inside. I'm there at least three times a month and have rarely left there empty handed!
It's a half hour drive from my home which takes me across Richmond Park, another place that is good for the soul. It's hard to believe that you are in a big city when you are in the middle of the park surrounded by trees, bracken and deer.
s many of you know, I love Petersham Nurseries and am a frequent visitor. It's described on their website as "Internationally prized garden centre, Petersham Nurseries is a tranquil oasis
and seedbed of inspiration" and that about sums it up. The highlight is always the shop which is in one of the glasshouses. The styling of the furniture, accessories, plants & flowers is superb and I find it a real inspiration. I love to wander around admiring and of course buying one or two things as it's very difficult to leave empty handed!

Petersham is a wonderful place to appreciate the changing of the seasons. I particularly love the way the shop is styled with a mix of items for the home and plants & flowers. Their styling is superb and always a great inspiration. Take a look.
This post is for all you garden lovers. If you are lucky enough to live in London you have the chance to see the gardens of Petersham House, the home of the owners of Petersham Nurseries, Gael and Francesco Boglione. Their home is adjacent to the Nurseries and is a stunning Georgian house with extensive gardens, swimming pool and tennis court. They have a substantial vegetable garden which is used for the restaurant in the Nurseries.
